Happy Love Day

Happy Love Day, friends. I hope you are all doing fun, creative things to celebrate. I always try to think of something new, on Valentine's Day, to show my appreciation for the loves in my life. I woke up this morning and made cinnamon rolls for my little Valentine's. It didn't totally go as planned. Ashlyn was rushed, as always, to get out the door on her way to school. She was very happy and excited, though, for her big party day. She was very anxious to give out her little handmade hearts {that she spent hours working on}with a Kit Kat on them. It always makes me so happy to see her really looking forward to something. The best part was that she let me take her picture, which has been hard to do lately.

Carly woke up ready to celebrate. She was excited about the decorations that I had put out, but she didn't want her picture taken. Ok, fair enough. The two of us got Shane's place all set up, with confetti hearts on the table and his baseball Valentine {everything has to be baseball} etc, etc. We waited with anticipation for him to get off the phone {it's officially attached to his ear} and come join us for breakfast. We told him we had cinnamon rolls, but he never came. Finally I told Carly to just go watch Mickey and Friends celebrate Valentines, and I cleaned up our breakfast. I just took a picture of the table {because, you know, you have to take a picture of something}. Finally, after about 20 minutes, Shane came in and enjoyed his Valentine's breakfast by himself. Totally not how I planned, but oh well. Shane's just not that into the love day gestures, I guess.

I do have to say, though, in Shane's defense, last year he put together a scavenger hunt for us. He did it in the morning {that explains the pjs and curlers in Ashlyn's hair}. He had the girls searching all over the house, and even outside. They were very excited, and I was impressed by the thought and effort that was put into the whole ordeal. There were gifts along the way, like movies, and the end told us that he would be taking us to Panda Express for dinner. {The girls absolute favorite place--no romantic dinner for two happens after you have kids}. He did pretty well--maybe he was just tired this year, I don't know!

We always have the table decorated for dinner, with gifts, of course. This was taken last year, but it will look much the same this year. The girls are getting clothes and cds, and they will be thrilled.

Hugs and Kisses from me to all of you! I hope you have a great Love Day!

You are so creative! You are so ambitious to make cinnamon rolls. I know what you mean about phones attached to ears. I never know if Ty is talking to me or to someone else. Annoying. I am glad you had a good Valentines.
